A STATEMENT REGARDING THE LIFE OF Charlie Kirk AND HIS ASSASSINATION

Atlanta, GA – The Georgia Association of College Republicans offers its thoughts and prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family, and calls for civility

“Today, a wife lost a husband, a son and daughter lost a father, and America lost its most impactful young person in politics. Charlie Kirk embodied what the conservative adage of ‘extremism in defense of liberty [being no] vice[,]’ and ‘moderation in pursuit of justice [being] no virtue.’ Charlie Kirk unabashedly defended conservative principles even when doing so was not popular. He influenced an entire generation of young people and will continue to do so in his death.”

“That being said, there must be justice for Charlie, and for his family; those responsible for today's tragedy must face punishment for their crimes. But let that not lead us down a dark path, one of hatred and vitriol (especially for the other side). Dark days are upon us, but only in working together and finding common ground will we see our way to the light. Let today's events help us in fostering unity, not division. Let us commit to the creation of a future where Mr. Kirk’s children and our future children will thrive and not be as divisive as it is now. Let us cast aside those who would seek to divide us, and work towards what Charlie Kirk inspired young people to believe in: the American dream.” - GACR Executive Board
